A Reason to Love L.A.

I recently came across some of Kristen Panitch's work on Decorpad and I couldn't get enough. She has a small design firm in Los Angeles, but with 20 years of experience under her belt she is no small fish. Her work is colorful and happy, let me know what you think...

Big surprise... a kitchen I love ;)

Love the wallpaper in the stairwell...

I secretly wish I had a sofa with an awesome floral print like this one...

This is the perfect play room. Accommodating for kids and adults...

Bold in Boston

I recently came across a super fun and vibrant living room on Houzz.com. The designer is Rachel Reider and as navigate my way through her website, I am loving her more and more. She is a Boston based designer that combines traditional with contemporary and is never lacking in color. This is my shout out to Rachel and her fun eclectic sense of style...

Love this chic contemporary living room and the sleek kitchen. The whole house just screams Bachelorette...

I love that the first look is funky contemporary and then she can switch gears to traditional, but not outdated...

Love this kitchen and breakfast banquette with a twist... literally...

Her colorful bathrooms are a nice break from white or stained wood...

This is the perfect home for a fun, hip, young family. I absolutely adore the playroom...

This is a beautiful modern dining room. It's warm, but it's fresh...

This is a fantastic play on the grandfather clock...

Perfect for the front porch or backyard. So comfy looking..

House Love

Better Homes and Gardens is probably my favorite magazine. They feature real life homes that people live in, not homes that are just for show. The home of Muffin Tullos (seriously, that's her real name) in the February 20011 issue, is just that. I love everything about this house, it's cozy, beautiful and most of all, livable.

I absolutely love the choice of accent colors for the exterior. Simple white with pops of color, but the color is not obnoxious.

I love the pass through under the stairs the bookshelves and bench seat when you walk in.

She has carried the colors from the exterior on into the interior and it works beautifully. The turquoise and the orange are so vibrant and happy.

I love the simplicity of the kitchen and the folding picnic table and chairs on the porch.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

This post was inspired by a recent discussion with a friend over her love of rainbows as a child. While looking online at party ideas involving rainbows (hint, hint... more to come on that later) I came across a lot of fun home decor in rainbow colors. Most of it is for the little ones, surprise, surprise, but there are also some fun rainbow pieces for those that never want to grow up...

These rooms are happy and fun. So cute for the kiddos.

Just because we are adults now, doesn't mean we can't have fun. Arrange your library by color...

Mad for Plaid

I've always been a big fan of plaid, but I still haven't blogged about it. It's country, but it's refined. It's mid-century, but it's modern. It just makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Betty Draper's kitchen wallpaper is the perfect example of plaid in the home in the 195o's. I would use this wallpaper now in my kitchen, love it!

This photo is from the first issue of Lonny Mag. It's an image from Grace Bonney's apartment. Love the simplicity...

Here are some great examples of plaid used in a modern way...

The plaid touches in these photos are more traditional...

Add plaid in an unexpected way...

This sofa from Horchow is made by none other than the King of Plaid himself... Ralph Lauren...

Anthropologie has had a few plaid pieces of furniture over the years and they never disappoint...

Best way to get that mid-century look... go vintage!

Plaid preppy bedding is always a fun way to go...
