My Kitchen in My Next Life

So I'm totally obsessed with the kitchen designed by the Barefoot Contessa for the House Beautiful 2009 Kitchen of the Year. I think the gallery style kitchen gets forgotten and is under appreciated. The Contessa has designed a fabulous kitchen that not only looks spectacular, but it's also functional, even for a chef.

Countertops are Caesarstone in Raven and cabinets are from Kraftmaid. Ina (the Contessa) suggest one invest in two dishwashers so a party's worth of dishes can be washed in one load.

Best cooking combination is an electric oven for baking and gas burners for cooking and then if you want to indulge yourself, a separate induction cooktop for a super quick boil.

Open shelves are great for visibility and accessibility, however one should try and group like objects together so things don't look too chaotic.

Getting Ready for Baby...

Sorry there haven't been any post for a while, but it's been a busy month. I'm happy to announce that we are 16 weeks pregnant, hence the blog entry today. We are super excited, but decided not to find out what we are having yet, so today's post will have inspiration and ideas for boys, girls and gender neutral rooms. Have Fun!!!

Either/Or

Love the tent idea and the colors are fabulous for a boy or girl.

Try solid walls, but then add a pattern to the ceiling...

..or patterned walls.

This room has a cozy vintage feel to it, no more of those matchy matchy baby furniture sets.

Instead of buying a mobile, try making something stimulating yet funky.

Gender neutral bedding can be very "neutral" or you can punch it up with some color, any of these would work for a boy or girl.

Here are some room ideas, just for those little boys...

...and some for the little girls.
